Our Story

Middleton Meats is a small farming business. We started selling Angus beef direct to the consumer in 2008. Our family business started as an idea after Nick spent 15 years helping businesses around the world  introduce Lean Manufacturing, a concept developed by Toyota in the 1940's and now employed in many businesses across the world. Nick came from a farming family, with his mother being raised on a dairy farm in Lancashire, but he had never figured out how he could apply these Lean principles in agriculture and set off with a challenge to figure that out!

Toyota teaches you to drive the waste (non value adding activity) out of a business by constantly reducing your batch sizes, with the ultimate goal of one piece flow. By only having small facilities and needing to supply customers all year round, we had to figure out how to reduce our batch size to one in order to  sell one animal per month and put a calf into the system at the other end of the chain each month - a concept never really developed in cattle production, where animals are generally raised in large batches and sold to markets, therefore breaking the link between producer and customer.

Our animals are slaughtered at the closest small abattoir, to minimise food miles and animal stress.  The carcass is then hung for 25 days. It is then butchered and packaged by Debra, his wife.

We  are so confident in the product we produce, that a full money back guarantee is offered if complete satisfaction is not achieved, no questions asked.

We pride ourselves in giving our animals the best possible quality of life and welcome any customer to call to arrange a time to take a tour and see what we do.

We invite you to join our group of faithful customers, and take satisfaction in knowing exactly where your food has come from, and how it has been looked after. You wont be disappointed! It’s gauranteed!
